Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Yvonne Whittington Russell, 87, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday January 6, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Russell passed away January 3, 2018 at her residence and was preceded in death by Burton, her husband of 52 years.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, where she was a member of the Ed Stinson Sunday School Class and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years.
Mrs. Russell was retired from the Ouachita Parish School Board where she spent 27 years teaching first grade at Logtown, Robinson and Shady Grove. She earned a bachelors and masters degree from Northeast Louisiana University.
Survivors: Daughter, Ann Wallace; Son and Daughter-in-law, Harold and Debbie Russell; Brother, Jimmy Whittington; Grandchildren: Adam Wallace wife Kristen, Marci Bryant husband Ross, Cole Russell wife Mollye and Austin Russell girlfriend Katie. 7 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Adam Wallace, Cole Russell, Austin Russell, Ross Bryant, Chiel Van den Bold and Mike Colvin.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe or the American Diabetes Foundation
