Yvonne Smith Nugent DrummondFuneral services for Yvonne Drummond, 75, of Monroe, LA will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Betty Swanson and Reverend Larry O’Dell officiating. Burial will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Yvonne was born May 10, 1939, in Ouachita Parish and passed away January 12, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a graduate of St. Matthews High School, where she excelled in basketball. She attended Louisiana Business College in Monroe and was employed as a bookkeeper at Lee Edwards Volkswagon, Louisiana Diesel Inc., United Machinery Services and Bancroft Bag, where she retired in 2007. Yvonne was a faithful and active member of Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She was particularly involved in each of her grandchildren’s activities and endeavors. She loved family vacations and gatherings at their deer and fishing camps. Yvonne was a sermon in shoes who loved freely and exhibited the grace of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, in her every interaction. Yvonne was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Nugent; her father, James E. (Hawke) Smith; her mother, Cascille Smith Osbon; and her stepfather, Edgar N. Osbon. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 44 years, Jim Drummond; sons, Eddie (Terrie) Nugent, Scottie (Jennifer) Nugent, and Kenny (Tanya) Drummond; brother, Jimmy (Ann) Smith; sister, Dolly Smith; grandchildren, Brock (Shannen), Emorie and Averie Nugent, Robbie and Miranda Nugent, Parker (Sarah) Mitchell, Maura (Joey) Smith and Tristan, Kiley and Kenzie Drummond; great grandchildren, Kyley Ferreira, Elias and Makaio Nugent, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Honoring Yvonne as pallbearers are Charles Smith, Greg Smith, Sam Feldhaus, Laris Breaux, Keith Martin, Wade Jackson, Greg Hill and Juri Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Yvonne’s close friends from her Bunco and card groups.The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Keith Calhoun, Dr. Butch Dunn, Dr. Scott Barron, Dr. Kevin Meyer and the nursing staff of Premier Hospice, with special gratitude to nurses Cindy and Tina.
