Coralie, a dedicated mother, grandmother and educator, decided early on that music was her passion. She became highly proficient on the keyboard while growing up and later taught young students at home when she started her family. She was a church pianist and organist for numerous churches for over 40 years. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in music from Northeast Louisiana University. She was a member of the Monroe Symphony and was a featured performer on numerous occasions. She co-received the Roger DiGiulian Lifetime Music Award from The Monroe Symphony (along with husband Jack) and was later named to the Monroe Symphony Hall of Fame. She was an Associate Professor of music at University of Louisiana at Monroe, passing on her musical passion to her students. She also performed numerous piano recitals and accompanied many students. She performed with the ULM School of Music ensembles on many occasions. The number of weddings and funerals she played for is in the 100’s.
Her passions weren’t all music oriented. She was a member of the Junior Charity League of Monroe and also a member of the daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
She loved her family and did her best to be there whether it was a baseball game, football game or musical concerts. Yes, her musical passion was passed down to her children. No surprise there! She will be remembered for her immense generosity and her kind and loving spirit.
She was also a survivor. She battled and beat three separate cancer diagnoses. She trusted M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston and they didn’t let her down. Many thanks go out to all those that treated her and cared for her during that time.
Pallbearers are her grandsons and great nephew and honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters and great granddaughters and great niece. Singers are Greg and Kristen Oden of West Monroe.
Thanks also goes out to the staff at Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Ridgecrest Community Care Center, Savannah Grand Assisted Living and Elara Caring hospice care for treating and taking care of her in her final days.
Memorials may be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center or to a charity of the givers choice.
