Funeral services for Willie Monroe Smith, 89, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, March 25, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Everett Geis and Rev. Chad Ballard officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. The visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 215 Mt. Vernon Church Rd. West Monroe, Louisiana.

Mr. Smith was born on February 15, 1935, in Fountain Hill, Arkansas, and passed away on March 21, 2024, in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Willie was very active in the growth of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where he was past president of the building and athletic committee. He was also past president of the Southwest Water Company and served on the Greater Ouachita Port Commission. Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman, he raised quail for many years. He also raised and trained squirrel and bird dogs. Willie was an active member of the Louisiana Squirrel Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Smith; father, William Riley Smith; mother, Ida Belle Roberts Smith; and his siblings, Geraldine Caples, Henry Arthur Smith, J. Ray Smith, Jesse Smith, Ola Mae Donaldson, J. Homer Smith, and Howard Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Teresa Boggan Smith(Julie), Renee Kent(Tommy), and Faith Smith; grandchildren, Misty Redding(Nathan), Zach Womack(Crissi), Brandon Kent, Todd Alan Lenard, Jr.(Faith), Jessica Stover, and Joy Bowie(Marc); great grandchildren, Parker Redding, Hayden Redding, Jenna Gebhardt, Juliana Breland, Rosalie Breland, Elliot Roberts, Annalise Redding, Tate Redding, Vincent Sparks, Lorayna Womack, and Ava Redding; and great-great grandchild, Jon Marcus Gebhardt.

The pallbearers will be Todd Lenard, Brandon Kent, Nathan Redding, Parker Redding, Cody Warner, and Casey Brownell

The honorary pallbearers will be, Zach Womack, Herman Bounds, Roy Shiver, Harry Barfoot, Wayne Rutledge, Mike Wheelis and Don Wheelis

Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Athletic outreach.
