Funeral Services for William R. “Butch” Porter, 72, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Bro. Scott Fletcher officiating. Interment will be held in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe.
Butch was born on October 8, 1944 in Vicksburg, MS and went to his forever hunting camp on November 18, 2016. He was a United States Veteran serving in the Brown Water Navy from Vietnam. He retired from Graphic Packaging after 43 years. Butch was an avid hunter, a championship team roper, a master mechanic, and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Sharon Lanier Porter; daughters, Wendi Washer and husband Paul, Christi Hogard and husband Kevin, Hollie Giroux and husband Yves; grandchildren, Ronald Sloan, Logan Sloan, Catie Sloan, Emilie Cole, Dalton Griffin, Alyssa Griffin and Taylor Hogard; brothers, Billy Porter and Buster Porter; sisters, Brenda Rowe, Treshan Breaux, Charlotte Favalora, Linda Martin and Ivy Fontana; father-in-law, Don Lanier; sister-in-law, Kathy Jarrell; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Griffin, Logan Sloan, Ronald Sloan, Darby Harrell, Daniel Harrell and Dustin Harrell. Honorary Pallbearer will be Julius Tolbird.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
