Matheny, 74, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M., with visitation until 4:00 P.M., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Calhoun Civic Club, 189 Calhoun Loop Road, Calhoun, LA with Keith Roberts officiating. Mr. Matheny was born July 3, 1940 in Point, LA and passed away May 19, 2015 at his home in Calhoun surrounded by his family and friends. He was employed with Ouachita Candy Co. and Rochester Midland, where he retired after 32 years in 2000. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force and he was a member of Calhoun Civic Club, where he was former president. He loved his family and friends and was an avid outdoorsman and community activist. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James P. and Gussie Matheny.Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, LaDonna Matheny; daughters, Kathy Barden and husband Bob of GA, and Kellie Snelson and husband Craig of AZ; son, Bill Matheny and wife B.J. of GA; 10 grandchildren, Heather, Charlie, Gracie and Issac Barden, Lindsey, Ryan and Kate Snelson of AZ, and Jake, James and Andy Matheny of GA; brother, Bob Matheny and wife Sharon of GA; and 3 aunts, Maxine Jenkins of NC, Peggy Savignol, and Jeanette Mathis of LA; and the mother of his children, Sue Cody. The family would like to give special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice especially nurse, Shelly, to his sitters, Raye and Catherine of Americare, Synergy Home Care of Ruston, especially nurse, Trish. Special thank you and recognition to Stanley and Aucel Lee Wink for all the love you showed our family.
