William “Tyler” Hunt, 32, of West Monroe, LA, passed away on January 2, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his fur babies, Mia, Ashe, and Garfield. Visitation will be held in the chapel at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Mulhearn Chapel following visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Leading Tyler’s celebration of life ceremony will be longtime friend, John Godwin. Interment will take place at Loch Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Swartz, LA.
Tyler was born on January 17, 1991, in Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Patricia “Nona” Harrington; maternal grandfather, Angus “Sambo” Balch; paternal grandfather, James Hunt, Sr; aunt, Kelli Hunt; and uncle, Todd Hunt.
He is survived by his mother and forever loyal confidant, Laurie Sylvestri and stepdad, Ray; father, William “Bill” Hunt and second mom, Leaha; sisters, Grace Hunt and fiance’ D.J.; Madi Hunt and fiance’, Michael Jones; and his “precious baby sister”, Taylor. Also left to cherish his memory is his maternal grandmother, Deborah Balch, paternal grandmother, Anne Hunt; aunts, Christie Dixon and husband Randy, and Marcie Balch; uncle, James Hunt, Jr; cousins, Reanna Dixon, Warren Rocks, Coltin Rocks, Victoria Hunt, and Amanda Freeland. While he loved each of his cousins dearly, Tyler was also blessed to share an extraordinary bond with his two cousins, Christopher Balch and Micah Moore. Tyler and Christopher spent their childhoods as best buddies and always remained close. Tyler and Micah shared a connection that surpassed the typical “cousin relationship”. During their many trips, projects, and time spent together they created cherished memories that will last in the hearts of many.
Tyler valued education as evidenced by his academic achievements. He graduated from West Ouachita High School with honors in 2010. From there he enrolled at Louisiana Delta Community College and attained an Associate of Science degree. Still wanting to further advance his knowledge of health sciences, he continued his education and graduated from the University of Louisiana @ Monroe with a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies degree in 2021. While attaining his educational goals, Tyler also worked at Iberia Bank and as a sales representative for Versace and Elite at Dillard’s. Although he excelled at these jobs, his sole desire was to help people. He used his degree in Health Sciences to aid so very many people in Northeast Louisiana. This was his true passion, and he achieved it with the utmost success.
Anyone who knew Tyler would describe him as a truly authentic, kind, and loving soul; for, Tyler knew no hate. The countless number of friends that he made throughout the years were very dear to him. In particular, he made many treasured memories with Julie Dash, Codi Trichell, Jill Bates, Sydney Porter, Chelsea Purvis, Cain Oswalt, Ryan White, and his cousin from his second family, Cody Searcy.
Pallbearers will be Cody Searcy, Randy Dixon, Ryan White, Daniel Bedgood, Cain Oswalt, and Adam Johnson.
Special notes from his sisters—
“Hey Bubba. I’m going to miss you, but I know you’re watching over all of us from heaven. I so wanted you to be here when I turn my big ‘16’, when I graduate, and for my wedding. You were always an angel and everyone’s hero—no matter what! I will never stop telling people that you are the best big brother a little sister could ask for! I love you, Bubba, to the moon and back and always and forever!” ----Love, Taylor
“Tyler, there are no words to describe what it feels like without you here. For our whole lives, you’ve been our rock, our biggest supporter, our listener (with of course lots of advice), and ALWAYS our friend. Through every season of life, you were our constant. There will never be another person who could fill the role you had in each of our lives. We’re forever grateful to have you as our big brother. We love you more than anything in this world. We promise to live each day to make you proud, and we know you’ll be watching over us every step of the way.” -----Love, Grace & Madi
