William Floyd "Sonny" Bumgardner

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. William Floyd (Sonny) Bumgardner, 86, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Ridge Ave. Baptist Church in West Monroe with Dr. Jim Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the church.

Mr. Bumgardner passed away on September 11, 2021, at Ridgecrest Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Mr. Bumgardner was a member of Ridge Ave. Baptist Church and was a member of the Fellowship Men’s Sunday School class. He loved his church and fellow members. Sonny was retired from Graphic Packaging with over 42 years of service. He enjoyed spending time in his shop and to watch his garden flourish with produce. Sonny was Pop to all the kids that grew up around him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, P. J. and Nerine Bumgardner; Sister, Rita B. Kelly; brothers, Curtis Bumgardner and Charles Bumgardner; and his son-in-law, Terry Risher.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mrs. Blondell G. Bumgardner; Daughters, Sheila Defreese and husband, Randy and Rhonda Risher; Grandchildren, Shane Defreese, Amanda Tornberg and husband, Kevin, Keith Powell, and Josh Risher; Great Grandchildren, Shane Defreese, Jr., Garrett Defreese, Kylie Powell, Triston Tornberg, and Remington Risher; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Keith Powell, Joshua Risher, Dusty Hatfield, Shane Defreese, Triston Tornberg, Garrett Defreese, and Remington Risher.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Men’s Sunday School Class.

Memorials may be made to the Ridge Ave. Baptist Church in West Monroe.
