Will was born on November 30, 1987, in Monroe, Louisiana and left this world tragically due
to a car accident on January 4, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Alvis Collins Jr.; paternal grandfather, William A Collins; paternal grandmother, Alice Henry Collins; maternal grandfather, Richard “Dick” Young; and maternal grandmother, Jean Young.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Collins; son, Gabrielle Collins; daughters, Kinsley Collins and Brooklyn Freppon; mother, Jill Rogers; brother, George Rogers and wife, Breanna Rogers; service Dog, Zannah; and other cherished canine companions: Miss Piggy, King Kong, Perdita, Hera, Bane, Alice, Myra, and Stitch. Additionally, he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Will faced a life-altering event at the age of 23, when a wreck left him paralyzed from the waist down. Despite this, he continued his life in a wheelchair, living life to the fullest and marrying his wife, Elizabeth Collins on November 9, 2019. Will enjoyed making soap, collecting guns, video games, breeding American Bullies, and spending time with his family and friends.
In his younger days, Will loved playing football and baseball, fishing on the river, and playing around the bonfire after camping for days. One of his mom’s favorite memories is him coming home and yelling, “Moooom! I’m hoooome!” When she would stay out too late gardening, he would poke his head out of the front door and, in the same inflection of his voice yell, “Moooom! You need to come in!” In the third grade, all he wanted to be called was “William,” and his favorite teacher, Mrs. Briggs, happily obliged; He was the apple of her eye. His mom remembers telling him, “Your patience is in your pocket!” when he was overwhelmed, and he would exhale, “You’re right, mom.” She loved and adored him. Will and George had an inside joke where they would tell each other “I’ll hit you like I don’t even know you,” which they would always laugh at. Will was George’s hero while he was growing up and looked forward to every birthday when Will would buy him a new video game. Gabe’s favorite memory with his Dad is going to Will’s friend John’s house, where they fished, built a bonfire, cooked out, and ate so much food. Gabe’s favorite memories echo those of his dad when he was a kid. He will be deeply missed.
Pallbearers will be John Carr, Kendall Franklin, Anthony Franklin, George Rogers, Sal Miletello, Houston Williams, Timothy Kelley, Matt McGowen, Ryan Anderson, and Gabrielle Collins.
