William Bernhard “Billy” Sanders

Billy Sanders passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at his home in Monroe, LA. Billy was born in Memphis, TN on November 11, 1942, and was the son of Benjamin Bernhard Sanders, Jr. and Louise Herring Sanders. He was married for 58 years to Shirley Ray Sanders.

Billy was a retired rural mail carrier and cattle farmer. He along with his son, Chad, formed a company creating all types of decorative concrete which still operates today. He was an avid outdoorsman and an accomplished artist creating several different types of artwork that included portraits, paintings, and carvings. Billy was a Christian who enjoyed teaching Bible Classes for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Bernhard Sanders, Jr. and Louise Herring Sanders.

Survivors include his spouse, Shirley; three sons, Dr. Bohdi (Bill) Sanders of Loveland, CO, Russ Sanders of Bella Vista, AR, and Chad Sanders of Monroe, LA; he leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Stephen and Colt Sanders of Ft. Collins, CO, Lindsey Baber and Jarrett Sanders of Tulsa, OK, and Tyler and Mariah Sanders of Monroe, LA; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Melanie King; and niece, Ashley West of Monroe, LA

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, August 10, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Rev. Phillip Palmertree officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,
501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
