Funeral services for Willard “Bill” Ford, 96, of Monroe, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, June 25, 2012, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Bernard Duchesne, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ford passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012. He was retired from the U. S. Army serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ford was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Yuma, AZ. He loved to travel and visited 48 of the 50 states in the US and many countries while serving in the Army. His love of travel was exceeded only by his love of reading. He had an extensive library including thousands of books and spent many hours in the last years of his life reading his beloved books.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ruth McNair Ford; Son, Robert Ford and wife Rebecca; daughter, Carol Townsend and husband Joe; grandson, David Flerlage; granddaughters, Lisa Flerlage, Carolyn Ford, and Kate Ford; and sister, Mary Lou Christensen.
Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 PM until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe
