Funeral services for Walter Ethridge (Foxy) Armstrong, 85, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 2, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Clyde Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bastrop, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. 

Mr. Armstrong passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010. He was a member of Bayou Oaks Baptist Church. Mr. Armstrong was a grocer and farmer in the 1950’s. He was in the hardware business for over 30 years starting with the Western Auto Franchise and later was the owner and operator of Armstrong Hardware.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, but his special love was children. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Armstrong; six brothers, George Armstrong, Leon Simpson, Charlie Armstrong, Louie Simpson, Buron Armstrong, and Lindsey Armstrong; and six sisters, Mamie Haynes, Florence Gardial, Eve Mae Ferrell, Agnes Dew, Etta Laird, and Beatrice Murphy.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-six years, Helen Bolin Armstrong; sons, Jerry Armstrong and wife Yvonne; Don Armstrong and wife Linda; daughter, Nancy Manley and husband Greg; one sister, Verona Redding of Pascagoula, MS; special friend and adopted family member, Dr. M. G. Mickail and wife Cathleen; six grandchildren, Mark Armstrong and wife Amy, Chris Armstrong and wife Maria, Michael Armstrong and wife Gretchen, Matt Armstrong and wife Leslie, Michelle Minter and husband Trever, and Greg Manley, Jr.; and eight great grandchildren, Emma Armstrong, Andrew Armstrong, Cullen Armstrong, Jason Armstrong, Cliff Armstrong, Nicole Armstrong, Parker Armstrong, and Luke Armstrong.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Mark Armstrong, Chris Armstrong, Michael Armstrong, Matt Armstrong, Greg Manley, Jr, and Trever Minter.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Bayou Oaks Baptist Church Building Fund, or the charity of your choice.
