Wallace 'Wally' Williams

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Wallace (Wally) Williams, 95, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 11, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA with Rev. Richard Norsworthy officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.Mr. Williams died April 6, 2016 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his family.Wally grew up on Crowley’s Ridge in Arkansas and at the age of 14 went on the road to play guitar for the Arizona Cowboys. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Helen Perruchon and after the war they moved to Little Rock, AR, where he worked in sporting goods sales for Bush-Caldwell and Company. They moved to Monroe in 1951 where he continued working for Bush-Caldwell. After his career in sales, he bought and managed Monroe Loan and Pawn. Upon his retirement, he began playing music with his partners at area nursing homes. He was a gifted guitar player and they entertained and brought smiles to the residents for over 30 years. “The minute Wally strums the strings of his guitar and opens his mouth to sing time stops and everyone in the pub hangs on every note and word the living legend offers to the crowd” Doyle JeterWally was preceded in death by his wife, Helen R. Williams; son-in-law, David Peak; his parents; 6 brothers and 3 sisters.Survivors: five children, Gerald Williams (Teresa), Glen Williams (Leda), Ricky Williams (Kathy), Sandra Williams (Walter), and Gina Peak; grandchildren, Leslie Langston, Anna Claire Boatwright, Shea Bookout, Scott Williams, Cliff Williams, Craig Williams, Rick Williams, Sarah Mathers, Lane Shelton, Erin Peak, Adam Peak, Wendy Giovingo, Lee Williams, IV, Jamie McCollough, Eugenia Francoise, Farron McCollough, and Chad Williams; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be his grandson, Scott Williams, Cliff Williams, Craig Williams, Chad Williams, Lane Shelton, Ricky Williams and Adam Peak. Honorary pallbearers will be his music buddies, Murray Biedenharn, Jeff Hicks, Ken Breard, Josh Madden, Ken Page and Haley Yarbrough.Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, with a Vigil Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.The family would like to give special thanks to Vicky and Nicky at Hospice Compassus for the care they gave their Dad.
