Funeral services for Waldene Wilda Schwartz Walpole, 93, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Pastor Shawn Hornsby officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Walpole was born March 5, 1926, in Ballinger, TX, and passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at Cherry Ridge Skilled Nursing in Bastrop, LA. She was a retired Monroe City Schools Elementary Teacher. Mrs. Walpole was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monroe, United Methodist Women’s Club, Circle 3, and the Elizabeth Langford Memorial Study Group. She was also a member of the Ouachita Parish Republican Women’s Club and a Girl Scout Troop Leader in Monroe. Mrs. Walpole was honored as FUMC UMW Woman of the Year.
Mrs. Walpole was preceded in death by two husbands, James Victor Hood and Albert Grayson Walpole; and siblings, Jenny Margaret, Doretta Gerhardt, Alta Mae, Arlene Fay, Joyce Lanell, Walter Henry, Martha Lee, Hartwell William, Ralph Hale, and Lanny Ross.
Survivors include her son, Lonnie Lamar Hood; daughters, Joy Hood Scroggins, Ann Walpole Jones, Barbara Walpole Wagoner, and Sally Walpole Ryan; siblings, Phyllis Fulton, Jimmy Schwartz, Nancy Allison, and Don Schwartz; grandchildren, Rachael Harris, Teresa Fout, Christina Chantell, Christopher Ramsey, James Hood, Matthew Ramsey, Marissa Scroggins, Melinda Jones, Amy Jones, Jamie Wagoner, JT Wagoner, Greg Ryan, and Devon Ryan; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Parker, Brock Harris, Jonathan Stewart, Roger Fout, Uhrs Chantell, and James Hood.
