Funeral Services for Mr. Wade Thompson, 85, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Gordon “Skip” Dean officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 12, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Wade departed this life on Thursday, October 11, 2018. He was a resident of West Monroe, LA. Wade was born on April 23, 1933, in Pitkin, LA. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a United States Marine. He was a true patriot and instilled these values in his children and grandchildren. Wade was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. He placed great importance on starting and keeping traditions and “making memories.”
Wade is preceded in death by his father and mother, Earnest and Maggie Thompson; brothers, Ray Thompson and Reeves Thompson; and sisters, Opal Hines and Olean Singletary.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jackie Russell Thompson; daughters, Kathy George and husband Marty, Charmaine McGuffee and husband Todd, Alicia Minter and husband Joel; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wade is also survived by his son, Ernest Thompson, his “Partner”. Survivors also include sisters, Belva Sue Ryan and Carolyn Melder; sister-in-law, Suzanne Aucoin; brothers-in-law, Ron Hines, Frank Singletary, and Richard Szkatulski; special cousin, Don Russell and wife Lennie.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Daniel George, Matthew George, Andrew McGuffee, Sam McGuffee, Ben Minter, Craig Easterling, and Cody Zaunbrecher.
