VIVIAN HOLT GREEN JONES

A celebration of the life of Vivian Holt Green Jones (Teeny), 92, of Rayville was held at 2:00 P.M., October 15, 2016, at Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Rayville, LA, with Reverend Cannon Walter E. Friese, Jr. officiating. Interment followed ceremony at the Rayville Masonic Cemetery, Rayville, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home – Rayville, LA.
Mrs. Jones was born February 29, 1924, in Rayville, LA, and died peacefully at her home Thursday, October 13, 2016. She was an active member of Saint David’s Episcopal Church where she served as treasurer and on the Women’s Auxiliary.
While attending Rayville High School, she was a cheerleader and on the Rayville High School Track Team. Teeny held the Louisiana State Record for the 50 yard dash for many years. She was a graduate of LSU where she was a LSU Precision Swimmer and a member of Phi Mu Social Sorority and Alpha Beta Chi Honorary Sorority.
After graduating from LSU, she worked as an Accountant for Richland Ford Motor Company. Because of her unconditional love for her family, she made the decision to stop working and stay home to raise her children. Later in life, she joined her husband to work at Rayville City Hall where he was the Town Clerk. Teeny had many special community endeavors. She was a member of DAR, Rayville Garden Club, Rayville Town and Country Club and numerous bridge clubs. She was a loving and caring woman, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an inspiration to all.
Teeny had a smile that could light up any room. It was an infectious smile that radiated her inner happiness and joy to others. She was a caregiver by heart, taking care of others came naturally. She shared her heart with everyone she encountered. Playing cards with family and friends was her favorite past time. She enjoyed cooking and her friends will forever cherish her delicious cakes, candies, cookies and cheese straws. Aunt Teeny, Aunt Tia, or Nana as many called her, will forever live in our hearts.
Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her parents James Severin Green and Vivian Holt Green; her husband of 35 years, James Foster Jones, Jr.; his parents, James Foster Jones and Zenobia Southall Jones; her brothers, James Severin Green “Sugarman” and William Mercer Green “Bussy” and his wife Innes; her sisters Catherine Guill Green and Julia Green Rushing “Missy” and her husband Tommy; son-in-law Tony Bailey; and bother-in-law Don Cobb.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Vivian “Vee” Jones Hebert and husband Don and Catherine Jones Bailey Greeson and husband Bland; her sister-in-laws Elaine Jones Siscard and husband Harold and Catherine Jones Cobb; four grandchildren, Pamela Beach and husband Scott of West Monroe, Christin Siscoe and husband Shay of Clemmons, NC, Lea Bailey Jackson and husband Ronnie of Rayville, and Donna Marie Hebert of Rayville; five great grandchildren, Alli Beach, Madeline Beach, Ayden Siscoe, Cooper Siscoe, and Tanner Jackson, along with numerous family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Everett Calloway, Carlton Cobb, Dr. Edward H. Eiland, Jr., Senator Noble Ellington, Ken Newsom, and Chris Norris. Honorary pallbearers are members of St. David’s Episcopal Church. Special thanks to caretakers, Mary Cooper, Crinda Chatman, Elizabeth Walker, Peggy White, Shameir White, and Anita Brown.
