Vivian Delores Slocum

Funeral services for Vivian Delores Slocum, 87, of Bastrop, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 11, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Rev. Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Start Cemetery, Richland Parish.

Mrs. Slocum was born September 11, 1930 and passed away January 5, 2018. Vivian owned and operated Slocum Grocery in Rayville, for over 32 years. She loved her family, loved to cook and loved music.


Mrs. Slocum was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Slocum; parents, John Howard and Ellen Adams Howard.


Survivors include her daughters, Terri Pinckard and husband Kenneth of Bastrop, LA, Linda Pottenger and husband Craig; grandsons, Billy Holloway and Chad Holloway, and Matt Merritt; granddaughter, Michelle Merritt Gallien; great grandchildren, Victoria Holloway and Brooke Holloway, and Chloe and Gabe Gallion; 7 brothers, Lewis Howard, Paul Howard, Enoch Howard, Norman Howard, Felton Howard, Willie Howard, and Elzie Howard.


Pallbearers will be Kenneth Pinckard, Craig Pottenger, Gary Lamartinire, Billy Holloway, Chad Holloway and Katie Gilley.


Visitation will be12:00 PM until service time, Thursday, at the funeral home

The family wishes to extend special thanks to her caretakers, Juanita Carter and Brenda Johnson.
