Virginia Pearl Doughty

February 3, 1940 — August 25, 2012

Virginia “Jenny” Ware Doughty, 72, of Rayville, passed away on August 25, 2012,
following a lengthy illness.
Jenny was born in Dehlco, Louisiana on February 3, 1940 to the late Ford Ware and Pearl
Bruce Ware. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Joseph Ware and Terry
“Buddy” Ware.
Jenny graduated from Rayville High School in 1958 and later received her undergraduate
degree from Northeast Louisiana University in Education. She taught elementary school in
Richland Parish and Riverfield Academy for over thirty (30) years, where she touched many
lives with her love, humor, storytelling ability and Mexican fiestas.
Jenny’s greatest achievement and joy was raising her three (3) children: Terry, David and
Dana. She poured herself into molding their lives and those of her seven (7) grandchildren.
Proverbs 31:28 speaks of a godly woman and states that her children shall rise up and call her
blessed. Her children were blessed to have her as a mother.
Jenny was one of the most thoughtful, kind and considerate people around, sending
words of encouragement, birthday cards and letters to her many friends.
She is survived by her children, Terry Doughty and wife Annie of Rayville, David
Doughty and wife Suzette of Rayville, and Dana Doughty Dixon and husband Jeff of Mer
Rouge, and her seven (7) grandchildren, Lauren Doughty, Matt Doughty, Bradford Doughty,
James Doughty, Caroline Doughty, Mary Margaret Dixon and Jon-Thomas Dixon. She is also
survived by her brother Jim Ware and wife Carolyn.
 
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28th at First Baptist Church
of Rayville, with Dr. Eddie Wren, Johnny Hoychick and James Doughty officiating. Interment will follow
in Rayville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville.
Pallbearers are Billy Ware, Jerry Ware, David Head, Lynn Copeland, Jimmy Hopson and O. G.
Morris. Honorary Pallbearers are Ford Bruce Boughton, Joe Meeks and Laten Bridges.
Memorials may be made to Riverfield Academy, 116 Wood Street, Rayville, LA 71269.
