Funeral services for Virginia Dare Wilson, 74, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, McMillan Road, West Monroe, with Rev. Paul Laird officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until service time, Sunday, at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at a later date at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens.
Ms. Wilson was born July 10, 1943, in Columbia, LA, and passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center. Virginia was a 1961 graduate of West Monroe High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University, graduating in 1978. Before beginning a career in education, she studied abroad. She was a retired school librarian; her last school was Highland Elementary in West Monroe. After retirement, Virginia volunteered through the Glenwood Auxiliary and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year, in 2007, and loved handing out angels and caps to people to brighten their day. She was passionate about her current work as Historical Librarian at the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum in Monroe. Through her traveling to her appointments in New Orleans, she loved to photograph the scenery.
Ms. Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, Odell and Cleora Wilson; and brother, Kenneth Wilson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan Hutchinson of Austin, TX; cousin, Rev. Paul Laird and wife Celia; uncle, Darrel Bratton; special friend, Laurel Meredith; numerous other cousins and special friends including those especially at the Chennault Aviation Museum.
Memorials may be made to the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.
