Virgil Price "V.P." Dalrymple, Jr.

Virgil Price “V.P.” Dalrymple, Jr., 86, of West Monroe, Louisiana passed away September 26th, 2024. Funeral services for Mr. Dalrymple will be held at Mulhearn’s Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd. Monroe, Louisiana, on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, at 4:00pm with Reverend Jon Tellifero officiating. Visitation will be held at 3:00pm until service time at the funeral home.

If all the world’s a stage and we are all merely players, V.P. joined our illustrious cast on May 27th, 1938. In life, he was a schoolteacher and an avid theatergoer and player, himself. “Veepy”, as he was known by some in his younger years, taught at Ouachita High School and cherished each and every of his students that he had the wonderful privilege to teach. When not standing in front of the chalkboard, he was often found on the stage in various theater productions.

Throughout his life, V.P. built up quite the impressive passport, travelling to many countries all over the globe and documenting his adventures along the way. Most notably, in 2013, he was selected to be an attendee on a grand adventure by the National Geographic Around the World by Private Jet experience. For thirty days, the world become his school. A place of endless new experiences, astounding people, and inspiring ideas. Teachers may retire, but they never stop their pursuit of knowledge. What better a way to continue a legacy than by sharing it with the rest of the world – in all twenty-four time zones.

V.P. is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Price Dalrymple Sr. and Clarice Sutton Dalrymple, and his wife of 39 years, Gyl Rowell Dalrymple. Survivors include his many treasured friends and family. Memorials may be made to the charitable organization of one’s choice, as per Mr. Dalrymple’s instruction.
