Memorial Services celebrating the life of Vincent Paul Martinez, 43, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 1, 2018 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. John Mabray officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Vinny died April 27, 2018, at St. Francis Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Following the service, the family will receive friends in the Educational Room of the church to remember Vinny’s life and share the many good memories that he brought to family and friends.
Born and educated in Dallas, Vinny graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Texas Tech before entering the restaurant business. He met Jennifer, his wife of 12 years and the love of his life, when she was working her way through University of Texas at Dallas graduate school in speech pathology. They quickly knew that they would want to spend the rest of their lives together. Their wedding celebration in Akumal, Mexico in 2006 provided friends and family with special memories that will bring a smile to their faces forever. Vinny managed multiple successful restaurants and bars in downtown Dallas before deciding to move to Monroe to fulfill his dream of owning his own restaurant.
Vinny loved music and was a songwriter and member of the Deadmoon Choir band in Dallas prior to moving with his family to Monroe. His dream of restaurant ownership was realized in January 2017, when he opened Braiz’n Bar and Grill. Vinny never met a stranger and his staff and regulars at Braiz’n quickly became family. His ready smile and quick wit drew people to both his back-yard barbeques and his restaurant. He will be missed by all who knew him, but his delight in bringing people to the table with good food and friendship will live on in his restaurant.
Vincent was preceded in death by his father, Alfredo V. Martinez; brother, Alfredo, Jr., and sister, Stella.
Survivors who will treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Jennifer Schween Martinez, and children, Dylan and Ryder; his mother, Consuelo Patino (Dallas); sisters, Elizabeth Moreno (Plano), Maria Martinez (Plano), and Delia Martinez (Dallas); and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or charity of your choice.
