Per Covid-19 Restrictions and Social Distancing Guidelines, a Private Family Graveside Service with full military honors will be held for Mrs. Verna White, 97, of West Monroe, LA on Friday, December 4, 2020, at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA with Bro. Rudy Hernandez officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Verna was born a child of the prairie on September 27th, 1923, in Heimdal, North Dakota. It was from there on her 20th birthday that she went to enlist in the United States Marine Corp for the duration of World War II. After basic training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, she was then stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. While there she met and married Corporal Clemon Jerry White and later moved to West Monroe, Louisiana upon his return from Iwo Jima and the occupation of Japan in 1946. For 20 years, Verna managed a leading construction company serving a tri-state area. Her husband passed on December 22, 1972. She lived in West Monroe for a total of 73 years. She passed on Friday, November 27, 2020.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clemon Jerry White (C.J. White); eldest daughter, Laurel Hilton and her late husband, Alvin L. Hilton; son-in-law, Ricky Keith Andrews; her mother, Ella Hillisted Theise and her father, William Herman Theise of North Dakota; and her brothers, Garold and Orville Delbert Theise.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie Grant; Kristi Dowty and her husband, Paul; Kim Andrews; Jerry Wade White and his wife, Debbie; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; along with many well-wishers.
While alive, she loved her grand dogs, cooking, shopping at Walmart, and Dairy Queen ice cream cones. Now, she is with her loved ones whom she has been missing for many years.
