Moates Jordan, longtime resident of West Monroe, LA, passed away with her family by her side in Waxahachie, Texas, on Thursday, November 13th, 2014. Meme was a beautiful 93 years of age and was known as the sweetest lady in town. Meme was born in Enterprise, Alabama. August 31st, 1921. As a young lady she moved to Harlingen, Texas, where she met her husband Clyde H. Jordan Jr. After graduating from High School they were married in 1939 and spent 68 beautiful years together before he died in 2007. They are now reunited in our heavenly Father’s arms. She taught in several different elementary schools, Junior High School and later at the Ouachita Vocational School in West Monroe. Meme and Dede (Clyde) were longtime members of the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe and held almost all chair positions at one time or another dating back to 1945 and were very active in the choir and Sunday School Classes. The church continued their support for Meme after her move to Texas with phone calls, letters and visits and for that the family is forever grateful. Despite her loss of short term memory, her love for her church friends was never forgotten.Meme is survived by her three sons, Clyde, Bryan, and Mark and two daughters (she never liked the phrase daughter- in-laws), Trudie and Jo. She was so proud of her seven grandchildren, Jared and John Jordan, Jamie Waddell, Jessica Jordan, Jodi Dean, Jennifer Savage and Amy White. Lynn Jordan, Cara Jordan, Jeremy White, Michael Savage and Eric Dean were Meme’s grandchildren by Marriage.
