Tommy Jay Dotson

Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Jay Dotson, 64, of Ouachita Parish, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 17, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with his family: Elaine Fox, Jennifer Fox, and Michael Fox officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Dotson was born September 17, 1959, in Monroe, LA, and passed away August 13, 2024. 

Tommy was the fifth child in a big family of seven children. Tommy loved music, fishing, animals, barbeque, and Subway sandwiches. Tommy lived his life to the fullest despite his limitations. He laughed often and loudly. He knew his mind and did not hesitate to tell you his thoughts. He had many special caretakers. We want to give special thanks to his team at Care Solutions, Teresa, Mike Hamilton, and his wife Anita who were Tommy’s best friends. Tommy called Mike his “big brother.”

In his passing, the family decided he would be an organ donor. He leaves behind a part of himself for others to be able to have more time to be with those they love. It is a blessing to know that his passing has allowed others fuller and longer lives. 

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Loraine and Mary Dotson; and sisters, Wanda Dotson and Vicki Fuller.

Survivors include his sisters, Sandra Lochala (John) and Elaine Fox (David); and brothers, Ronnie Dotson (Carol) and Larry Dotson and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Epilepsy Foundation.
