Funeral services celebrating the life of Tommy Charles Billiot, 94, of Calhoun, Louisiana will be held at 12:00 P.M., Friday, March 14, 2025, at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Werner Aswell officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Friday.
Tommy Charles Billiot was born in Jackson Parish on February 26, 1931, to Charlie and Martiel Billiot, and went to be with Jesus on Monday, March 10, 2025, at his home in Calhoun.
He was a 1948 graduate of Jonesboro-Hodge High School, lettering in football and baseball, and playing the trumpet in the band. He was also senior class president. He attended LSU before joining the US Air Force, where he served in Europe during the Korean War. After returning to civilian life, he worked as an auditor and accountant for a hotel chain based in Galveston, Texas.
On June 25, 1960, he married Linda Sue Ezelle Billiot, and they resided in Galveston, Texas until returning to his home town of Hodge, Louisiana after the birth of their daughter, Susan. He worked at Stone Container Company for many years as plant controller until his retirement in 1993. In 2000, he and Linda moved to Calhoun, Louisiana to be near their daughter and grandchildren and lived there until his passing.
Tommy loved Jesus, his savior and was member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and the Adult 9 Sunday School Class, which he cherished. He was a generous and kind person who was always ready to help anyone in need. He embodied an attitude of gratitude, constantly thanking God for his many blessings. All who knew Tommy knew he had a wicked sense of humor. He loved finding fun in everything and was not above playing a practical joke from time to time. His favorite hobby by far was fishing, and countless friends and family were the beneficiaries of the white perch he caught and cooked for them. He also loved his vegetable garden and continued to work in it for as long as he was able. Tommy had a keen mind and loved researching and investing in the stock market but more than anything else, he loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was the proudest Daddy and Pop there ever was, and we will all miss him terribly until we see him again.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Martiel Billiot; his sister, Carolyn Billiot Carver; and his brother-in-law, Dudley Carver.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 65 years, Linda Sue Ezelle Billiot; daughter, Susan Billiot Maxwell and husband Ronnie; granddaughters, Meghan Maxwell McConkey and husband Josh, Faith Maxwell Jennings and husband Scott; great-granddaughter, Harley Blair McConkey; and niece, Gail Carver Richie and husband, Rob; along with many other family members and friends.
