Funeral services for Tommy B Tarver, 80, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM with a Vigil Wake Service at 6:00 PM Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Tommy B Tarver was born November 16, 1937, in Kelly, LA, and went to Heaven on May 31, 2018. He had many names – Big Tommy, Daddy, Honey, Pawpaw, and Captain Tommy. He was blessed to work on the Mississippi River for 44 years. His career began in 1955 as a mate with Canal Barge Co. and retired as a captain with Archie Daniel Midland in 1998. Tommy was the best husband, father, and grandfather. We’ll miss you so much, but we know that you have gone to be with the Lord and all your family and friends. On May 8, 2018, he was confirmed as a Catholic, but he had been at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church for many years.
Mr. Tarver was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rush Tarver; parents, Roy and Velrun (Kinnison) Tarver; parents-in-law, Louis and Rose Z. Costanza; sister, Anne; and brothers, Marion, Roylynn, and David Tarver; grandchildren and great-grandchild (his angels).
Survivors include his wife for over 58 years, Margaret Costanza Tarver; children, Brenda Tarver Gregory (Darryl) and Tommy L. Tarver; grandchildren, Megan Tarver LeBoeuf (Ronnie), Russell Tarver, Colin Tarver, Mary Margaret Hildebrand (Michael); great-grandchildren, Brody, Eva Rose, and Rylan LeBoeuf; brother, Lester Tarver (Linda); brother-in-law, Joe Costanza (Pat); sisters-in-law, Vita Southern (Lee) and June Tarver; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Russell Tarver, Colin Tarver, Ronnie LeBoeuf, Michael Hildebrand, John Southern, Tim Southern, Jimmy Smith, and Gary Rhodes. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Costanza, Raymond Horne, Stanley Lewis, and Lee Southern.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Father Beju, Sister Mary Ann, St. Francis Specialty Hospital, St. Francis Home Health, Doctors Michael Sampognaro and Greg Sampognaro, the nurses, the RRTs, PTs, OTs, and all the special employees, Joe Shievers, and especially many families and friends.
