Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service on Sunday.

Tommie was born in Monroe on July 25, 1973, and passed away on January 15, 2025, in Baton Rouge.

As the eldest of her sisters and the oldest grandchild, Tommie was the first to talk, walk, and ride a bike. She was also the first to go to school, travel to Europe, and create a cookbook from scratch. Tommie had a passion for her family’s history and was the first call her relatives made when that history needed preservation. She devoted years to researching her family’s genealogy, creating priceless records for the Spatafora and Milam families to pass down to future generations.

Tommie was deeply committed to keeping her family traditions alive. With her family, she lovingly recreated her grandfather’s marinated Sicilian olives and baked Italian cuccidati cookies every Christmas.

Tommie was innately creative, with a talent for crafting, scrapbooking, and woodworking. She spent countless hours designing heartwarming, sentimental gifts for family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to find treasure in the everyday and excelled at upcycling thrifted items. Her creativity was inspired by a deep love of art, particularly the works of Monet. She often spoke fondly of her visit to Monet’s gardens in Giverny during a European tour.

Tommie was also a devoted conservationist and animal lover, known for rescuing and caring for any animal in need, especially her beloved cats.

Tommie will be remembered as a cherished daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her parents, Tommy and Connie Milam; her sisters, Karen Murphy and husband John, and Delle Fontenot and husband Justin; her nephew, Evan Fontenot; and her nieces, Mila Fontenot and Clara Murphy; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, V. Matt Jr. and Mary Nell Milam, and Gene and Billie Spatafora.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cat Haven of Greater Baton Rouge.
