Graveside Services Celebrating the Life of Mr. Thomas Henry Spurlock, Jr., 86, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Hasley Cemetery Memorial Pavilion in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
Mr. Spurlock was born on October 21, 1931 and passed away at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, LA on October 24, 2017.
He received his B S degree from Northeast Louisiana University and was the first person in the area to study and be certified using an Electron Microscope at Princeton University. Mr. Spurlock worked all over the globe for Freeport-McMoran setting up carbon black labs in Germany, Malaysia, Philippines and Canada. He also was a retired Captain with the United States Army, serving as Military Police Provost Marshall. Mr. Spurlock was a member of First United Methodist Church of West Monroe, a member of the Ed Stinson Sunday School Class and was a member of the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents, MaMaw and Pops and his sister, Dr. Betty Stroud.
Survivors: his wife, Mrs. Nell Golson Spurlock; Son, Steve Spurlock and wife, Shirley; Daughters, Denise Spurlock Palmertree and Toni Randall McIntosh and husband, Jim; Grandchildren, Maura Balsamo, Corey Randall and Joshua Randall and wife, Megan; Great Grandchildren, Jason Lucero, Gavyn Randall, Elizabeth Randall and Rowan Randall
