Funeral services for Thomas Gale Gaumnitz, Sr.,89, of Corinth, Texas formerly of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment will follow immediately after at Hasley cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 1st, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Thomas was born on February 25th, 1934, in Sundance, Wyoming, and passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2024, in Corinth, Texas.
Mr. Gaumnitz was married to the love of his life, Carolyn, for sixty-five years. He had a twenty-five year long career as a pilot for Eastern Airlines and was a civil engineer for RSH engineering before he retired and spent the rest of his days spending time with his family. For many years, he was a member of Fair Park Baptist Church, in West Monroe. He was a wonderful, kind, and loving Christian man and loved ministering to everyone he met. He was an avid aviation enthusiast, he loved airplanes. Thomas loved to go to boy’s homes and nursing homes to preach the gospel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Constance Gaumnitz; brothers, Bob Gaumnitz and Fritz Gaumnitz; sister, Betty Gaumnitz; and son, Thomas Gale Gaumnitz, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carolyn O. Gaumnitz; daughter, Sheila Gaumnitz Parks and her husband, Jack; granddaughters, Suzanne Gaumnitz, Jennifer Shurtz, and Melissa Brooks; grandson, Brett Parks and his wife, Courtney; great-grandson, Jonathan Shurtz; great-granddaughters, Vivien Gaumnitz and Marilyn Parks; sisters-in-law, Alice Gaumnitz, Vera Jean Gaumnitz, Jeanette Cook, Mary Owens, and a host of nieces and nephews.
