Funeral services for Thomas Glynn Hemphill, Sr., 81, of Sterlington, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 27, 2012 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Curtis Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park.
Mr. Hemphill passed away August 24, 2012, at home. He was a Marine Corp veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He worked at Wintershall Gas Co. and retired in 1992. He owned and operated Hemphill Plant Farm in Sterlington. Mr. Hemphill was very active in the Sterlington community and contributed to numerous schools and projects. He was better known to his grandchildren as “Honey.”
Survivors include his wife of almost 59 years, Dora Hemphill; children, Jeff Hemphill of Sterlington; Glenda Bradford and husband, Scott of Sterlington; Deanna Eley and husband, Jimmy of West Monroe; Jennifer Yarbrough and husband, Jay of Sterlington; Thomas Glynn Hemphill, Jr. and wife, Robyn of Sterlington; Tony Hemphill and wife, Angela of Sterlington; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Price and Betty Rose Steakley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
