Thelma Mae (Starr) Platt, 79, of Monroe, LA died Friday, November 22, 2013 at her home.
She was born to the late Jack and Vivian Starr, April 18, 1934 in Monroe, LA and after high school completed Bish Mathis Business School. She married the late Marvin Wesley Platt and they raised their four children in Monroe, LA.
Thelma retired from Monroe – West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau where she worked in sales to bring conventions to the area. She loved her job and made many friends along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Jack Starr; brothers, Jackie Starr and Lonus Starr; sister, Mildred Briley; husband, Marvin Wesley Platt; son, Harvey Platt; and grandson, Marvin Platt.
Thelma is survived by three children: Wes Platt and wife Avis of Hebert, LA; Paul Platt of Tulalip, WA; Susan Belk and husband Joe of Monroe, LA; adopted daughter, LeeAnn Darling and husband Don of Bowling Green, KY; and special pet, Buttons; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: James Platt, Carl Platt, and Edward Platt and special friends: Don Darling, Dennis Kilcrease and Steve Coody.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 25, 2013 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Pastor Johnny Holyfield officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
