Funeral service for Mike Blakeney will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe, LA, with Pastor Warren Eckardt officiating.
Mr. Blakeney was born on December 8, 1959 and departed from this life on September 3, 2016. Mike was an accomplished voice talent and radio personality, best known for waking the Ark-La-Miss up as “Mike Terry” from Mike and Sheila Kay in the Morning for many years. As the owner of Blakeney Productions, his voice was heard from coast to coast on countless radio stations. Flying was one of his passions and he enjoyed volunteering his skills to Pilots for Patients. He was honored to have the privilege to be the original return pilot for their first patient and went on to fly 20 missions. Mike loved his family, Mississippi State football, chatting with people on the radio, and motorcycle rides.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ance Blakeney and Virgie Nell Blackmon, and stepfather, A.T. Blackmon, all of Taylorsville, MS. He is survived by his wife, Jan Chase Blakeney of Monroe; children, Terry Blakeney and fiancé, Amelia Hope Black, of Baton Rouge, Kristen Blakeney and fiancé, Brandon Henson, of Calhoun, Ryan and Miranda Blakeney of Grand Forks, ND; grandchild, Brenan Henson; siblings, Randy and Jean Blakeney, Larry and Debbie Blakeney all of Laurel, MS, Wanda Jordan and the late Tommy Jordan of Taylorsville, MS; and many close friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Cousin Buddy Wolverton, Daniel Wolverton, Wayne Petrus, Philip Thomas, Terry Kees, Jr. Kees, Curtis Rogers, Justin Roberts, Grisham Lenard, and Wendell Chenault .
