Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Terri Lynn “T-Rex” Whittington, 52, of West Monroe, LA, will be held on August 8, 2023, with Randy LeGrone officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Terri was born on April 14, 1971, in McComb, MS, and passed away in her residence in West Monroe, LA, on August 5, 2023.
In 2012, Terri was diagnosed with a terminal, rare “nonsmokers” lung disease called Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and was only given a prognosis of about three years. She defied those odds in “True Terri Fashion” by surviving 12 years with this debilitating disease. You would never know how truly ill she was because Terri was an incredibly strong-willed and a very determined woman. She knew that this disease could easily beat her, but she wasn’t going to make it easy for PAH! The word “quit” wasn’t an option…and so she didn’t! She fought…she persevered…she was a warrior!!!
She found joy in many things. She and Whitt enjoyed adopting four-legged fur babies that needed a happy home, they loved to travel with their close friends, Mark & Jennifer Allbritton and the four of them loved to belt out some 80’s music “karaoke style” from the back seat. Terri loved spending time with Whitt. He brought her such happiness and showered her with nothing but love and support. They shared a common need to find things that they could spend time together and meet new people. Terri also loved to work in her garden and was always excited about sharing her bounty with family, friends, and neighbors. She and Whitt loved a good horror flick, and they knew all of the words to Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. She was always ready for a quick game of “Name That Tune” at random times!!! Her newest joy was sharing her love of TikTok with her closest friends…usually through messenger…. usually middle of the night!! Facebook will most definitely miss her quick wit and twisted sense of humor.
Terri is preceded in death by her father, Hayward Beeson, Sr.; Paternal Grandparents, Mary & Walter Beeson; and Maternal Grandparents, Penny & Mack McCorkle.
Survivors include her Husband of almost 14 years, Glen “Whitt” Whittington; her mother, Ruth Beeson; stepson, James Whittington (Chelsie); stepdaughter, Nancy Whittington; brothers, Jerry Beeson (Dana) and Hayward Beeson, Jr. (Heather); Brothers-in-law, James Thomas (Glenda), Roger Thomas, and Ken Thomas (Nikki); Sister-in-law, Sharon Thomas; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the PAH Foundation in remembrance of Terri and her fight against this rare disease.
What Is PAH?
PAH is the medical abbreviation for pulmonary arterial hypertension. PAH is a specific type of high blood pressure that affects your heart and lungs. When you have PAH, the blood vessels in your lungs become narrower. This means your heart must work harder to pump blood to your lungs.
What causes PAH?
Your doctor might not be able to find a reason for your PAH. This is called idiopathic PAH.
How common is PAH?
PAH is rare—only about 1,000 new cases of PAH are diagnosed every year in the United States. PAH is more common in women than in men.
PAH is chronic, and it gets worse over time. But life expectancy has been improving for people with PAH.
