Steven Woodburn Jones

Funeral services celebrating the life of Steven W. Jones, 57, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, with Shane Blackstock officiating. Steve was born on January 13, 1966, in Natchez, MS, and passed away on September 8, 2023, in Monroe, LA. He was a graduate of River Oaks High School, where he played football; he previously attended St. Fredericks, but was expelled for drinking whiskey in a big gulp before class and doing donuts in the nuns’ driveway. Steve was a dispatcher for KLLM Transport Services with whom he also worked as a truck driver for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Wendell Jones and Jackie Morrison Jones who lovingly adopted him as an infant.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 34 years, Jean Ann Durham Jones; daughters, Devin Jones and Caitlin Rachow and son-in-law, Josh; granddaughters, Makaela Cotton, Danni Rachow, and Livi Rachow; brother, Mark Jones; sister, Suzanne Rolison; niece, Kennedy Jones; nephews, Reagan Jones and Colin Jones; and numerous other family members including the biological family, he had yet to meet. Steve will also be greatly missed by his canine companion Gracie, as well as his grand dogs, Zero, Luna, Gypsy and Freya.

Steve was the 2006 Mississippi State 5 Axle Division Champion & 2007 Mississippi State 5 Axle Sleeper Birth Division Champion, and went to the national truck driving championships both years. He loved taking family vacations to Disney World and going on cruises with his wife. Steve had a sense of humor like none other, and his family & friends all have great memories of all the funny things he would do or say to make them laugh.

Steve’s desire was to be cremated and have his ashes spread at sea in the Caribbean. Honorary pallbearers will be Damon Blackstock, Paul Brownlee, Bill Fambro, Ben Guinn and his favorite brother-in-law, Thomas Compton.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Benjamin Morehead and the staff of St. Francis Medical Center ICU for the care provided to our husband, father, and papaw.
