Funeral services for Stephen “Brett” Bartley, 40, of Sterlington, LA will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Pastor Paul Solice officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Mr. Bartley was born November 29, 1970 in Monroe and passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Sterlington. Mr. Bartley was employed by the City of Monroe for the past nineteen years as a landscaper. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and attended Northeast Louisiana University. He was a faithful Christian and a member of Grace Baptist Church of North Monroe. He was extremely proud of his ten month old niece, Alayna Jade Bartley, who he fondly called A.J. Brett never met a stranger and to know him was to love him.
Mr. Bartley was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Lois Cowart and paternal grandfather, Cecil Bartley.
Survivors include his parents, Don and Margaret Bartley; brother and best friend, Brian Bartley; niece, A.J. Bartley; and a very special canine buddy, Dusty. He is also survived by a paternal grandmother, Pearl Bartley; paternal aunt, Shirley Barnett; special great aunt, Margaret McClain; special great uncles, George W. Cowart and Johnny Cowart; and numerous cousins who were dear to him.
Pallbearers will be the Monroe Police Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Memorials may be sent to the Ouachita Parish Humane Society.
