Mr. Spedo Paul Kokinos, Sr. was born January 13, 1928, in Monroe, LA, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the age of 90, on March 13, 2018, in Monroe, LA.
Funeral services for Mr. Kokinos will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, March 16, 2018, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Spedo was a Navy Veteran having served in WWII, a member of the American Legion, and WWII Veterans Association. He was also a member of Odd Fellows, AHEPA organization, and formerly an usher at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Spedo was also the owner of Kokinos Purity Icecream, for 65 years.
Spedo was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Mary Kokinos; brothers, Jimmy, Pete, Deno and Nick; and sister, Despena.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Iris Burns Kokinos; children, Mary Randazzo and husband James, and Spedo Kokinos, Jr.; granddaughter, Catherine Fitzgerald and Peter Benjamin; brothers, Harry Kokinos and Johnny Kokinos.
Visitation will be 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Michael Sampognaro, the specialty floor at St. Francis Medical Center, MICU unit, Randy Ratcliff, 6th floor CNA at St. Francis, Kacey Jackson, and Avalon Nursing Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
