Sonya Renee Pierce Gates

Graveside services for Sonya Renee Pierce Gates, 60, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 12, 2024, at Mulhearn Memorial Park, with Rev. Randy Ray officiating. The visitation will be held from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Mrs. Gates was born on November 13, 1963, in Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away on February 9, 2024, in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Renee enjoyed mornings at the West Monroe Guest House most days. On Wednesday mornings, they would sing beautiful old hymns led by the activity director, Ms. Sandra. She would let the residents and visitors pick out the hymn. The mid-week message was brought by Pastor Randy Ray, Ascend’s Hospice Chaplain. Afterwards, we would always have a large sonic diet coke and a snack. Renee cared for her husband, Mike, as long as possible before he passed away in 2018.

Rest in peace sweet girl. Aunt Candy is really going to miss you.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Gates; her parents, William and Annie Pierce; mother-in-law, Mary Smith; father-in-law, Bill Gates; uncle, Ed Gates; aunt, Velda Gates; uncle, Walter Gates; aunt, Verda Gates; and stepsisters, Lisa Young Renk and Linda Peace.

Left to cherish her memory are her aunt and uncle, Robert and Candy Gates; and numerous cousins.
