Somapala Herman Ferdinandez

Funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Somapala Herman Ferdinandez, 79, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 5:00 P.M., Friday, February 11, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.

Mr. Herman Ferdinandez was born September 24, 1942 and passed away February 7, 2022. He enjoyed cooking and gardening with his wife, reading books and watching movies in his favorite chair, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a selfless man, devoting much of his time to taking care of his family and friends. He prioritized education and strived to ensure his grandchildren never stopped learning about the world around them. Somapala was known for his warm, charming presence, his down-to-earth nature, and his unceasing patience. He embodied the principle of showing love through actions, not words. Somapala is now happily reunited with his wife, the late Chandra Malini Herman Ferdinandez.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Chandra Malini Herman Ferdinandez; mother, Sedinahami Herman Ferdinandez; father, Chalodis Herman Ferdinandez; two brothers, Jinasena Herman Ferdinandez and Somiel Herman Ferdinandez; and sister, Jinawathie Bogahawatte.

Survivors include his two sons, Lilantha Herman Fernandez and his wife Anuradha Thadur, and Nalin Herman Ferdinandez and his wife Ruwani Herman Ferdinandez; Grandchildren, Akithma Herman Ferdinandez, Sandithmee Herman Ferdinandez, Minul Herman Ferdinandez, and Sihath Herman Ferdinandez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
