Shirley "Nettles" Lewis

Funeral services for Shirley “Nettles” Lewis, 79, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 AM, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Swartz Assembly of God with Rev .Gary Sapp officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Lewis was born September 1, 1936 and passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Ouachita Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Lewis worked at Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office for 15 years and retired as a Sergeant. She loved her church and pastoring with her husband for over 50 years. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” Nettles and Emma Lou Rich Nettles; son, Gary Wayne Lewis; siblings, Bill Nettles Jr., Euell Thomas Nettles, and Lois Coolman.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 62 years, Bro. Gerald Lewis; sons, Rev. Williams “Bill” Lewis and wife Kim, and Capt. Tommy Lewis and wife Julie; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and beloved K-9, “Taco”.

Pallbearers will be Heath Lewis, Aaron Lewis, Scott Lewis, David Lewis, Daniel Lewis, and Jeff Benefield.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Swartz Assembly of God.
