Shirley Ann Endall Baldwin

Funeral service for Mrs. Shirley Ann Endall Baldwin, 88, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 27, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Jonathan Baldwin officiating. He will be assisted by Pastor Kevin Stewart. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time Friday, December 27, 2024, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Baldwin was born on January 18, 1936, in Hinckley, England and passed away on December 21, 2024, in Monroe. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Clarice Endall; husband, Herman Alfred Baldwin; and son, Paul Lynn Baldwin.

Shirley was an only child and lost her mother at a young age. She was raised by her father and grandmother.

At the age of 16, she met Herman at a dance while he was serving in the Air Force and stationed near her hometown. He proposed before he left and then was stationed in Japan and later in Bangor, Maine. He was away for a period of two years but then sent for her. She gladly packed for the United States and came over on a ship, even though she had an extreme fear of the water. He met her in New York. Together, they drove to Dubberly, LA to marry and start their lives together. They were married 50 years before Herman’s death in 2004.

They moved to West Monroe when their sons were in high school. Shirley was a bookkeeper all her life and went to work for Dr. Guthrie Jarrell, whom she worked for over 40 years. She loved the women she worked with, and this tight knit group became like family. It was a pleasure for her to be a part of all the babies born and she enjoyed working with each couple. All these years later, she still ran into ladies that remembered this English woman and the part she played in the birth of their children. She enjoyed this interaction. Even at the age of 88, she never lost her accent. All who met her enjoyed listening to her speak and she enjoyed the attention. She loved to tell the story of coming to the United States.

She was a member of McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe and cherished attending with Larry and Donna. She loved her Sunday school class and missed the ladies when she was no longer able to be with them.

Above all, her family was most important to her. Herman remained the love of her life until the end. As her family grew, so did her devotion. She enjoyed hearing any story about their lives and accomplishments. Shirley enjoyed attending any event and would suffer heat or cold to be there.

Those left to cherish her memory are son, Larry Baldwin (Donna); granddaughter, Stephanie Noland (Rodney); three grandsons, Joshua Baldwin, George Baldwin, and Jonathan Baldwin (Laura); great granddaughter, Nova Baldwin; four great grandsons, Grayson Noland, Brooks Baldwin, Elijah Baldwin, and Ollie Baldwin; and daughter-in-law, Vicki Fletcher.

Pallbearers will be George Baldwin, Rodney Noland, Grayson Noland, Randy Fletcher, Sean Kilpatrick, and Chad Camp.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff of Azalea Assisted Living for their loving care these last two months of her life.
