SHELBY JOYNER WILHITE
Funeral service for Mrs. Shelby Joyner Wilhite, 80, of West Monroe, will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Eros, LA, with Rev. Neil Wigley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Shelby passed away from this life at Glenwood Regional Medical Center surrounded by family on May 1, 2018. She was employed in the office of Ouachita Parish School Board for over 30 years until her retirement. Shelby was a member of Oak Grove Church and was active in it for as long as her health allowed and continued participating by prayer and other means as long as she lived. Shelby loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart, and she had no doubt about her eternal life with Him in heaven. Her relationship with Jesus was reflected in her relationship with her family, friends and others through love, compassion, commitment, generosity and much humor.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Clarice Joyner; her brother, Jerry Joyner; and her grandson, Jon Donaldson. She is survived by her husband, Billy F. Wilhite; children, Billy R. Wilhite (Sally), Jan Thomae (David), Lee Anne Donaldson, Tracy Wilhite and Joey Wilhite (Sammantha); twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Shelby is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Noweeta Joyner, Bill and Marie Simpson, Robert “Bud” and Mary Wilhite, and Juanita Ellerbe.
Shelby and Billy were blessed with 64 ½ years of marriage and praised God for guiding them in their love for Him and for each other.
Shelby’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 4, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe and 1:00 P.M. until 1:45 P.M., at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, May 5, 2018.
