Shawn David "Big O" Oglesby

Graveside services celebrating the life of Shawn David Oglesby, 56, of West Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 12:00 P.M., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe with Rev. Ricky Bonnett officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

Mr. Oglesby was born on January 7, 1968, in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away at his residence on December 16, 2024.

Shawn had a black belt in the Korean Martial Art, Taekwondo. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Ouachita Correctional Center. He worked for many years for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Ouachita Correctional Center. He loved to DJ weddings and countless other events, and also enjoyed calling bingo. Shawn affectionately known as “Big O” had a heart of gold and was loved by all who knew him and will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lajuana Jean Oglesby; and father, Jerry Frank Oglesby.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Kevin V. Oglesby; sister, Dawn Cathy; niece, Sylvia Cathy; and nephew, Caleb Cathy.

The pallbearers will be Paul Costello, Frank Mushinki, Warren Walters, Jimmy Smith, Joe Bowman, Todd Newman, Rooster Oliveaux, Mark Huggins, Trey Fluitt, and Mike Fendall.
