Funeral services for Sharon Ann Lanier Porter, 73, of West Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 17, 2020, in the chapel of Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Travis Bookout officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
Sharon was born on July 2, 1947, in Monroe, LA, and passed away August 13, 2020. She worked as a secretary for Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years. She found many joys in life, such as baking, but her greatest joy was her family. Sharon had a great love for all her family and made them her whole life. She was a kind and gentle, sweet woman who always could be found with a smile on her face. She was the light of her family’s life and will be forever greatly missed.
Sharon is preceded in death by the love of her life, W.R. “Butch” Porter; parents, Don and Peggy Lanier; and son-in-law, Yves Giroux.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Wendi Washer (Paul), Christi Hogard (Kevin), and Hollie Porter Giroux (Justin); grandchildren, Ronnie Sloan, Logan and Winnie Sloan, Catie and Quinten Woodward, Emilie and Daniel Cole, Dalton and Jessica Griffin, Alyssa Griffin, and Taylor Hogard (Peyton); great grandchild, River Griffin; sister, Kathy Jarrell; nephews, Brian and Brad Blaylock; her faithful and beloved caregivers, Jamie Crabtree, Diane Hatfield, and Christina Crabtree; and lifelong friends Julius and Ina Tolbird.
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
