Sawyer Maverick Romero was born August 30, 2016, and passed away May 6, 2018.
Sawyer Maverick entered a world of adversity, with heavy and almost insurmountable odds. Born with a rare heart condition, he underwent multiple surgeries and procedures from day one. However, the world quickly realized that Sawyer was different. He constantly showed a strength and sense of bravery that many of us do not, and will never possess. Despite difficulties and setbacks, Sawyer took the struggles life threw at him with a contagious smile--each time, persevering. Sawyer never met a stranger, as each person who met him, instantly fell in love. Sawyer was intelligent, curious, creative, and kind. His smile lit up a room, gave us joy, and melted our hearts. He loved books, and was a Hardy Boy in training. He loved his dog, horses, and being outside. He loved Scooby Doo, Mickey Mouse, and Snoopy. Most importantly, he fiercely loved his mother and family. Through knowing Sawyer, and knowing his story, he made us want to be better. And though his life was too short, he taught us things most people spend their lives never really learning. Sawyer taught us the true meaning of unconditional love, patience, perseverance, and strength. He taught us hope, courage, gratitude, and optimism. He was the embodiment of inspiration. Sawyer Maverick entered a world of adversity as an underdog, but he left a superhero; a true maverick.
He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Dianne Neal.
Survivors include his parents, Hannah Seffens and David Romero; a brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family and friends who loved him.
Pallbearers will be his uncle Fabe Ingram, his uncle Travis Ingram, Bruce Stott and Richard Davis.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
