Sarah Jane Harrison was born on July 10, 1947, in Minden, Louisiana and passed away on November 24, 2023, in Delhi, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 27, 2023, at Newellton Union Church, Newellton, Louisiana, with Reverend Johnny Wilkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery south of Arcadia, Louisiana, at 3:00 P.M. Monday, November 27, 2023.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Daniel Harrison and William Cornelius Harrison, Jr.; her twin brother, John William Harrison; and her son-in-law, Jason Philip Deal. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Murray Hays Greer, Jr.; sons, Michael Murray Greer (Meredith) and Daniel Harrison Greer (Lillian); daughter, Anna Lisa Greer Deal; grandchildren, John William Greer (Loren), Murray Hays Greer III, Michael Talbot Greer, Jackson Harrison Greer, Jacob Robert Deal, Sarah Jane Deal and Mary Loftin Greer. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, William Jesse Greer (Cookie), along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jane was only seven years old when her father passed away. She was raised in a loving home by her mother and her grandmother Lucille Durrett Daniel.
Jane graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965, where she was in the band and she was a majorette. Jane attended Louisiana Tech University where she earned a 2-year Office Administration degree in 1967. On June 3, 1967, she married her high school sweetheart, Murray Hays Greer, Jr. She truly enjoyed being a mother to her children and a grandmother to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed being a youth counselor at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe for many years. She loved attending church on Sunday morning, her Monroe Prayer Group, attending Bible Study Fellowship, and the three trips she made to Israel.
Pallbearers will be Jane’s five grandsons, David Barnes, Jr., Kent Owens and Austin Trego.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Deerfield Nursing and Rehabilitation in Delhi, Louisiana for the excellent care they gave.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, the Newellton Union Church or the charity of your choice.
