Memorial services for Sarah Ellen Winegeart Tisdale will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Tisdale was born June 17, 1926 in Shreveport, LA, where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Centenary College in 1946. She married Lucien E. Tisdale on August 23, 1947 at the First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, LA.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a dedicated Sunday School teacher at First United Methodist Church of Monroe. She served twice as president of Chapter BB of the PEO Sisterhood and was an active member of the Twenty-First Century Book Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Lucien E. Tisdale. She also was predeceased by her parents, Henry Irby Winegeart and Willie Mae Stroud Winegeart, and two brothers, Henry and Jack Winegeart.
Survivors include her sons, David Tisdale and his fiancée, Cristina Walker, and Thomas L. Tisdale; daughter, Susan E. Tisdale Balder and her husband Erik; four grandchildren, Laura Balder Ighade and her husband Henry, Sarah Balder, Marc Balder, and Anna Tisdale; and one great grandchild, Nnenna Ighade.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Monroe.
The family wishes to acknowledge their appreciation of the care given to her by The Oaks and Hospice Family Alliance.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the River Cities Humane Society for Cats, 5302 DeSiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
