Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Sara Elizabeth Cloud Cannon, 81, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 20, 2017 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Steve Sallis, Rev. Pat Lofton and Dr. Randy Burdeaux officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Cannon was born December 31, 1935 and passed away February 17, 2017. She was a native of Ouachita Parish, and attended Ouachita Parish High School where she was a cheerleader, member of choir and mixed ensemble, and was selected to attend Girls’ State. As a stay-at-home mom, Mrs. Cannon was totally committed to her family and could be counted on to support them in various activities, including athletics, music, 4-H, and church. She was an active member in Modern Homemakers Home Demonstration Club, and was a fixture at the Ark-La-Miss Fair, where she worked in the exhibit building.
After her children were grown, Mrs. Cannon joined the work force at Louisiana Sheriff’s Pension Fund, where she enjoyed many years with her co-workers. After retiring, she spent time doting on her grandchildren, and enjoyed hobbies, such as playing Rook with friends and working crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert H. Cloud Sr. and Sara Elizabeth Cloud; husband, Rodney D. Cannon, Sr.; and son, Michael L. Cannon.
Survivors include her son, Chuck Cannon (Susan); daughters, Beth Cannon and Dianne Hayden (Stan); grandchildren, Mickey Cannon, Casey Hayden (Jennifer), Brent Moore (Hilary), Jenny Hayden (Chad), Joshua Cannon (Ashley), Justin Cannon, Jamie Gable and Gabby Schubert (Alex); eleven great grandchildren; brother, Albert H. Cloud, Jr.; sister, Mary Morrow (Bill); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Cannon, Brent Moore, Joshua Cannon, Dr. Bob Morrow, Darrell Arrant, and Keith McKaskle. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ruth Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA.
