Sara Cromwell leaped into the arms of her Savior on February 19, 2024, after a valiant battle with several long-time illnesses. Her sweet spirit and warm smile will be missed by many. Although small and quiet in stature, she made a huge impact in this world, and the world is a better place because of her life defined by love and kindness.
Sara was born in Monroe, LA on December 24, 1940, to David and Gid Stovall. After graduating from Neville High School, she met the love of her life, Edward Ray Cromwell, Jr., on a blind date, and they built a beautiful life together until his passing in 2000. Sara faithfully worked for the school system in Ouachita Parish at Swartz Elementary and later with the Special Education department.
Sara was an integral part of Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church for many years serving on numerous committees, sang in the choir, led Vacation Bible School, made endless amounts of Chicken salad sandwiches, and provided the best and warmest hugs to everyone. She exemplified a Christ-like life through her words and deeds.
Sara moved from Monroe, LA to Woodstock, GA to be closer to her youngest grandchildren for the last few years of her life. Shortly after moving to Woodstock, she moved to an assisted living facility, Sunabella. She was known as a ray of sunshine by everyone who lived and worked there. In fact, many of the employees at Sunabella affectionately called her, “Momma.” Sara’s family wishes to thank all of the employees at Sunabella of Towne Lake for taking great care of her and loving her to the very end.
Sara is survived by her three children, Kelley (Chris) Howell, Keith (Penni) Cromwell, and Michael (Katie) Cromwell; her eight grandchildren, Kristin, Jordan, and Zach Cromwell; Logan and Lindsey Howell; Allie, Aubrey, and Carson Cromwell; her brother, David (Linda) Stovall; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken Cromwell, Bob and Peggy Burgess, and Dianne Cromwell; a host of nieces and nephews; and countless friends that she always considered family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ed Cromwell Memorial Prayer Garden at Lea Joyner Memorial Methodist Church.
