Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Sandra Pullig Smith, 78, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday March 5, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Lynn Malone and Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.Mrs. Smith passed peacefully from this earth on March 2, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 30, 1937 in Shreveport, LA to Robert and Hazel Pullig. Raised in Minden, LA, she later graduated from Louisiana Tech University, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She married husband Gary (Bud) in 1959, and they located to Monroe in 1967 to raise their family. What a wonderful decision that would come to be!She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle and she and her husband Gary were longtime members of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class. In her younger years she very much enjoyed the Country Estates Garden Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Monroe Jaycee Jaynes. Also on her favorite to-do list were attending every event that her very active children were involved in, and shopping with her best friend Connie. She remained very active in her beloved PEO Chapter V, Bridge Club, and Luncheon Club, rarely missing an event and pitching in wherever she could. Even as life had dealt her a couple of health setbacks, Sandra was always willing to help others in any way possible.She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Mr. Gary A. (Bud) Smith; her pride and joy, 3 adoring children, as a better mother there never was; daughter, Stephanie Rivers and husband, Jay; sons, Lee Gordon Smith and wife, Catey and Stuart Hughes Smith and wife, Lori; 6 grandchildren, Kalee C. Smith, Connor W. Smith, Trevor L. Smith, Taylor A. Smith, Shelby L. Shelton, and Trenton L. Smith; 7 great grandchildren, Ryland Smith, Ella Grace Smith, Jordyn Smith, Jadyn Smith, Hayden Shelton, Piper Shelton and Norah Shelton; and numerous other loving family and friends.Pallbearers will be Trevor Smith, Taylor Smith, Trenton Smith, Connor Smith, Joshua Shelton, and Richard Pullig.
