Sam C. Herren

Funeral services for Mr. Sam C. Herren, 84, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 24, 2025, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Bro. Eugene Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Sam was born December 13, 1940, in Meridian, MS, and passed away February 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. 

Sam pipelined in the US and other countries. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and enjoyed watching westerns and sports on TV. He loved his family very much and cherished every visit.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, James M. Herren and Marilyn Winona Johnson; brothers, John Hundley Herren and James Herren; daughter, Jacqueline Gena Herren Hendry; son-in-law, Paul B. Miller; and grandson, Gavin Will Ticheli.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Gates Herren; daughter, Anita H. Miller; son, Bo Herren; grandchildren, Nicole Johnson (Jason), Matthew Hendry, Taylor Barnette (Lee), Roxanne Munoz (Josh), Samantha Damiata (Santino), and Chelsea Herren; 15 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Freddie Gates (Joan), Thomas Gates (Carol) and Aubrey Gates (Janice); and sister-in-law, Linda Barron (Gene). 

Pallbearers will be Thomas Gates, Aubrey Gates, Matthew Hendry, Jason Johnson, Lee Barnette, and Andy Cruz. Honorary pallbearer will be Freddie Gates.
